A Growing Ecosystem for African Language Learners
My name is Michael Ipinyomi, an engineer, language enthusiast, and founder of mikeipin, a UK‑registered publishing company dedicated to promoting African languages and culture.
The mission is simple: create high‑quality, accessible learning tools that help families, schools, and communities keep African languages alive.
The Collection is currently listed on BLAC Foundations: Black Books of Note, and with your support I hope the collection continues to grow and get recognition
All books in the Phonics Series are available on Amazon and in 14 Countries!
How the Phonics Series Began
This project started from a personal challenge: teaching my son my mother tongue.
The resources I created at home worked so well that I was encouraged to publish them. From there, I began collaborating with native speakers of other African languages, and the ecosystem has been growing ever since.

Today, the Phonics Series supports learners across multiple languages, with more on the way.
What Makes These Products Unique
Our books and card games are designed specifically for African languages and the realities of learning them:
- Every word includes a QR code
Scan it to hear the pronunciation spoken by a native speaker. - Perfect for tonal languages
Since pitch affects meaning in most African languages, hearing the correct tone is essential. - Ideal for independent learners, families, and classrooms
No prior knowledge required, the books build confidence from the ground up. - Designed for all ages
Children, adults, heritage speakers, and complete beginners can all use the series.
